CrewVision is an online field service management solution that assigns field tasks to the members of multiple organizations responsible for snow removal in Canada. Space-O Technologies developed this software for the backend with Laravel. Later on, the front end of this software was moved to ReactJS for further development. 800-900 crew members utilize CrewVision in winter, while an average of 100+ users remain otherwise and grow daily. About CrewVision

CrewVision is a platform tailored for property care service providers, especially during winter times for mowing snow-affected regions in Canada. Designed in May 2023, this field service management solution assigns tasks to workers allocated to mow specific snow-laden areas in Canada. Besides this, the workers can also spot the locations they need to shovel away, as required in the mobile app.

Client’s Requirements

The customer is a famous lawn-mowing company. They were looking for an online centralized dashboard to manage tasks assigned to different workers regarding snow mowing. Besides this, they also wanted to create software that could draw polygons to mark the areas to be mowed—giving better field visibility to the workers. The client also wanted their software to provide aerial images similar to Google Maps.

Solution We Developed

Our development team utilized the following technologies to build this software from scratch:

The back end was made with Laravel, while the front end of the software was made with ReactJS.
We used native development frameworks: SwiftUI for iOS and Jetpack Compose for Android applications.
We used ChatGPT and Codium for programming automation and effective code enhancement.
We used MySQL as a DBMS for real-time storage and managing workers’ activity data, such as work durations, break times, and location data.
Our team leveraged Google Maps API for tile replacement and admins to define task zones.
Furthermore, we utilized Agile methodologies Scrum and Kanban to manage the development lifecycle, using JIRA as the project management platform.

Property Management

Allows admins to add or delete any properties in the web dashboard. Furthermore, it also allows them to assign active or inactive statuses and highlight property boundaries through dynamic maps.

Dispatch Boards

Helps manage crew assignments on the web dashboard. It also helps to assign tasks and monitor progress through a KANBAN-style interface.

Crew and Vehicle Management

Permits admins to create crews and assign them different vehicles they require to mow snow in different regions. This helps to streamline operations.

Season Manager

Customizes task categories and map views depending on the seasonal needs for improved service planning. It allows users to display certain categories based on different seasons.

Geographical Data Verification

Verifies the accuracy of the addresses and geocoded pin locations while creating or adding a property. A target icon is used to precisely pinpoint the location for easy identification.

Route Optimization

Notifies the crew members of their allotted tasks and guides them to their designated places with better route mapping for efficiency.

Service Area Navigation

Enables workers to view and monitor the different property layouts and the elements in them. These elements include bins, windows, and doors for accurate task execution.

Progress Updates

Allows crew members to mark tasks as either completed or skipped directly within the app, triggering updates in the admin panel.

Job Assignment Notifications

Crew members receive notifications about assigned tasks and their details directly on the app.

Task Timer

Allows workers to start, pause, and stop work timers to log accurate work hour durations for every task.
